Are you looking for a fully-accessible city centre venue?
Rooms at the Quaker Meeting House are available for hire to groups and individuals. We welcome a wide variety of social, religious and charity organisations, as well as private and commercial customers.
The building is in the centre of Chester, close to the Cathedral, within easy reach of public transport, the Park & Ride service and car parking. It is a purpose-built facility offering several room sizes and services to suit a variety of meetings and events. We have worked together with the Access Service at Chester City Council to provide a venue accessible for all members of the community.
The Meeting House has four rooms which accommodate from 2 to 80 people. There is a unisex disabled toilet, unisex baby-changing facilities, a lift to the first floor, and full wheelchair access. All four meeting rooms have a hearing loop.
Rooms are available every day from 9am to 9:30pm. Bookings are made per session (morning, afternoon, evening) and prices are charged per session, regardless of length. Prices per session start at £16.
Hire of rooms includes use of the kitchen, which is fully equipped to provide drinks and light refreshments for groups of up to 80. We can also provide equipment such as flip chart, overhead projector with screen, DVD player with monitor, or laptop computer with data projector.

More details about the rooms
The capacity of each room as given below is based on people sitting rows facing a speaker. The capacity will vary, depending on the furniture used and the layout. If you are unsure which room will suit your needs the Warden will be happy to advise you.
Large Meeting Room - This is the room we use for worship, and it can comfortably accommodate 70 to 80 people. The room is equipped with blinds for partial blackout.
(This view is looking in from the entrance door.)
Large Meeting Room - The screen between the Meeting Room and the Library folds to one side to allow for extra seating, or to provide easier access for catering, etc.
(This view is looking back from the emergency exit towards the entrance and the Library screen.)
Large Meeting Room - A large circle of chairs may help to promote discussion.
Large Meeting Room - Committee meetings and training courses may prefer seats around a large table.
Room One - This room can accommodate up to 30 people, with low charges because it has skylights rather than windows. In 2010 new clear skylights were installed which can be opened for extra ventilation. It has blinds and a projection screen for presentations.
Room Two - This is the smallest room and is ideal for groups of up to 15 people, or for one-to-one meetings such as counselling or music tuition. There are windows with blackout curtains and a door onto the patio garden. There is a large fixed white board at one end.
Room Three - This room can accommodate up to 25 people, and it has a private kitchen for preparing refreshments. There are windows with blackout curtains and a door onto the patio garden. It's equipped with a projection screen and a fixed white-board.
The patio garden - The patio garden can be seen and accessed from Room 2 and Room 3. It has lots of flowers and a picnic table with two benches. There is a gate leading to a fire-escape staircase down to the ground.
